Port Huron, MI – Lake Huron Medical Center (LHMC) is pleased to announce its January 2024 Employee of the Month, Lynn Landschoot. LHMC is honored to have a strong team of staff and volunteers working hard to deliver high-quality care to the Blue Water Area and beyond.
Lynn works as a Registered Nurse in our Gastrointestinal Lab and has been an employee at LHMC for 42 years. She was nominated by a fellow employee who said “I want to recognize Lynn for going above and beyond for one of our surgical patients. The day before this patient’s surgery, it was brought to our attention that they lived in their car with their 3 dogs and that because of this, the patient was not willing to spend the night in the hospital out of concern that she had nobody to care for her dogs. Lynn took it upon herself to try and find a resource to help this patient with her dogs. Lynn reached out to animal control who was willing to shelter the dogs for up to 2 weeks, feed and bathe them, as well as make sure all of their immunizations were up to date…all free of charge to the patient. Lynn reached out to the patient to let her know of this service and put her in touch with animal control to make arrangements. The patient was so appreciative and was able to utilize this service. Had it not been for Lynn, this patient would not have had her surgery. This allowed the patient to have the surgery, recover and heal with out the worry of caring for her dogs. Lynn has a genuine care and concern for our patients, and we are so lucky to have her as part of our team.
