Port Huron, MI – December 1, 2023 – The holiday season is upon us, and at Lake Huron Medical Center, we believe in the power of giving back to our community. This year, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our annual initiative, “The Giving Tree,” aimed at collecting warm clothing items for the children of our local elementary schools.

Recognizing the importance of ensuring that every child has access to essential winter clothing, Lake Huron Medical Center has partnered with local elementary schools to identify students who may require assistance. The Giving Tree initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on families and ensure that children can stay warm and protected during the colder months.

The hospital’s staff, physicians, and volunteers have come together to create The Giving Tree, a symbol of hope and generosity. The Giving Tree is in the hospital’s main lobby and will also have a donation box at our North Campus.

Jose Kottoor, CEO of Lake Huron Medical Center, expressed enthusiasm for The Giving Tree initiative, stating, “We believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting our local families. By providing them with warm clothing, we hope to not only keep them physically comfortable but also boost their self-esteem and confidence.”

The Giving Tree initiative will run from now until December 18th. Donations can be dropped off at the hospital’s main lobby during regular visiting hours. All items must be new and in good condition to ensure the highest level of comfort and durability for the children.

Lake Huron Medical Center encourages local businesses, organizations, and individuals to join in this heartwarming initiative by donating winter clothing items such as winter jackets, winter boots, hats, warm winter gloves and socks for elementary ages children 5-10 years old. Boot sizes ranging from kids 11 all the way up to men’s/woman’s size 8. Winter coats and snow pants are needed up to size 14/16. Heavy mittens that work for playing in the snow are preferred over light weight knit mittens.

At Lake Huron Medical Center, we believe that small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect of positivity. By participating in The Giving Tree, you are not only providing warmth to those in need but also spreading the joy and spirit of the holiday season. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support. Together, let’s make this Christmas a memorable one for the children of our community!
